Class Series Concept

Provide anesthesia technical assistance.

Definition

Clean, assemble, and restock anesthesia equipment; document work performed; assemble standardized kits.

Distinguishing Characteristics

First-level class of series. Under general supervision, clean, assemble, and stock materials, anesthesia equipment and machines.

Typical Work

Restock and set up anesthesia equipment in operating rooms and supply areas; 

Replenish supplies such as syringes, needles, drugs, breathing circuits, and sponges; 

Wash and sterilize anesthesia equipment accessories including ventilator components, tubes, nasal air ways, suction catheters, stethoscopes, face masks, breathing circuits and anesthesia bags; 

Assure cleanliness and proper working order of machines; 

Assemble, verify sterilization and distribute standardized kits for anesthesia department; 

Clean and check ventilators daily in accordance with departmental standards; wash and sterilize components; 

Document maintenance work performed on equipment; 

Order supplies; 

Perform related duties as required.

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Desirable Qualifications

High school diploma or GED certificate;

AND 

Six months' training or experience in medical equipment maintenance or medical equipment and supplies. One year of training/experience in medical equipment maintenance and medical equipment and supplies may substitute for required education. 

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
