Definition

Lead assigned staff and maintain overall supply and equipment inventory; oversee preventative maintenance of equipment relating to anesthetic care.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Under general direction, lead Anesthesiology Technicians; and coordinate equipment and supply inventory and preventative maintenance program.

Typical Work

Regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of the employees; assist in training of Anesthesiology Technicians; 

Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions; 

Assist in the coordination of technical services between the department and all anesthesiology locations in the hospital; 

Maintain equipment and supply inventories; 

Oversee preventative maintenance program for equipment; 

Perform duties of Anesthesiology Technician 2; 

Repair anesthesia and physiological monitoring equipment; 

Perform related duties as required.

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Desirable Qualifications

Associate of Arts Degree in Biomedical Electronics; 

OR

Two years of postsecondary education/training with emphasis in the sciences and two years of experience as an Anesthesiology Technician 2 or equivalent;

OR

Three years of experience as an Anesthesiology Technician 2 or equivalent. 

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
