COLLEGE CAREER GRADUATE - NATURAL, PHYSICAL & HEALTH SCIENCES
Definition
As a college or university graduate of an accredited four-year institution, trains for and performs first-year professional natural, physical, or health science assignments.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Incumbents in this class carry a Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical, or health science field or related discipline such as environmental science, park management, geology, biology, chemistry, or forestry, forensics, lab sciences, nursing, occupational health, etc.
Legal Requirement(s)
There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree involving major study in natural, physical, or health science such as: environmental science, park management, geology, biology, forestry, forensics, lab sciences, nursing, occupational health, etc.
College or university students, including state employees, who are enrolled and scheduled to complete their degree requirements within 9 months may apply. The degree must be achieved, however, prior to appointment.
Note: Selective certification may be requested and applied to designated disciplines and/or internship/fellowship/work-study programs.
