Definition

Positions manage a small to medium sized state owned-store with sales averaging below 17,000 adjusted units per month. A basic unit is (1) one bottle or (2) one four or six pack of beer or (3) one can of cocktail mix or (4) one package (prepackaged such as for gift giving) or (5) seven mini bottles or (6) ten lottery tickets. An adjusted unit is defined as one basic unit sold individually or two-thirds of a basic unit sold as part of a licensee order or one-third of a basic unit sold as part of a military order. Unit count is evaluated annually covering a 12-month period.

Typical Work

Implements policies, procedures and methods used in ordering, receiving, storing, returning, issuing and accounting for supplies, materials, and stock;

Supervises and participates in work of waiting on customers, maintaining store appearance and upkeep, receiving and shipping merchandise;

Maintains accounting records, prepares reports and oversees physical inventories;
Identifies and implements store improvements;

Resolves customer complaints;

Ensures compliance with federal, state and agency rules and regulations;

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Some positions must be a minimum of 21 years of age and acceptable for bonding. Some positions must be physically capable of lifting and stacking boxes or cases weighing approximately 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time.

Desirable Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED certificate AND one year of experience in retail selling or buying, cash register operation, general clerical work and/or financial recording keeping.
