Definition

Lead assigned computer operations personnel and perform computer operations tasks.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Under general direction, lead assigned computer operations personnel.

Typical Work

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of employees; 

Operate computer, computer peripheral and computer-related equipment; 

Act as shift supervisor in the absence of the supervisor; 

Coordinate resolution of operating system malfunctions which require computer system integration; 

Monitor and allocate production facilities to maintain schedule of production jobs; 

Ensure adequate supplies inventory; 

Maintain status indicators of all jobs in process; 

May assist supervisor with performance evaluations; 

May develop and maintain documentation and standards for operational instructions; 

May perform the duties of Information Technology - Computer Operator 3; 

Perform related duties as required.

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Desirable Qualifications

One year of full-time experience as an Information Technology - Computer Operator 3, or equivalent. 

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
