- In 2006-07, Washington ranked second in per capita state and local sales tax collections among all states, highlighting Washington's heavy dependence on general and selective sales taxes in its tax structure.
- Of the thirteen western states, Washington ranked fifth in per capita state and local taxes in 2006-07. Alaska, Wyoming, Hawaii, and California had higher per capita state and local taxes.
