Grant Information

The Washington Commission for National and Community Service (WCNCS) helps improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through opportunities to serve and volunteer. This is accomplished through partnerships with public or private nonprofit organizations, including labor organizations; faith-based and other community organizations; institutions of higher education; government entities within states or territories (e.g., cities, counties); Indian Tribes; partnerships or consortia.

The 2010-11 AmeriCorps State Competitive Request for Grant Applications (RFGA) and the 2010-11 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for AmeriCorps State Competitive Grant Applications is available for download. The deadline to submit a letter of intent is October 9, 2009. The deadline for applications to be submitted is November 16, 2009. Please read the introduction to the RFGA carefully before deciding to apply.

Well-managed organizations with strong organizational competencies tend to be most successful in administering complex grants like AmeriCorps. To help you determine whether your organization is poised to successfully administer an AmeriCorps grant, we recommend that you complete the AmeriCorps Readiness Assessment. Please note, a satisfactory score does not guarantee AmeriCorps funding through the Washington Commission for National and Community Service (WCNCS) or the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

If your organization is considering submitting an application to sponsor an AmeriCorps program, please review the frequently asked questions. Other useful tools to help you decide if you should apply for an AmeriCorps State or National grant is the fit finder on the Corporation for National and Community Service website.
