Public Records Disclosure - Tips and Tools for Electronic Records

Governor Gregoire has asked state agency public records officers to “work with people who request electronic copies of non-exempt public records and whenever possible, satisfy these requests”. An ad hoc work group for public records disclosure of electronic records was formed as a result of the Governor’s direction. The work group, supported by the Department of Information Services, consists of agency representatives with legal, public records, and technology backgrounds. The work group is developing draft best practices to help agencies satisfy public records disclosure requests in an electronic format in a way that is consistent, complete, timely, and cost effective.
