About the 2008 Data Release

Description: Selected geographic files derived from the 2008 TIGER/Line shapefiles.

The Census Bureau recently completed the MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project.  In all counties, there is improved spatial accuracy as the result of the MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project (view map).

With this release, we have included several new statewide layers: Core-Based Statistical Areas, Combined Statistical Areas, Metropolitan Divisions, Metropolitan Statistical Areas, and Traffic Analysis Zones.

These TIGER/Line files have been modified by the Office of Financial Management by: 1) reprojecting the data to the State's standard horizontal datum and coordinate system, 2) improving feature attribution, 3) and ensuring that the data are compatible with Census 2000 and other OFM data sets.  The roads layer has been enhanced in that each element in the feature names relationship table is now associated with a corresponding geographic feature.

Note: The Vader School District became part of the Castle Rock School District beginning with the 2008/09 school year.
