Improve the security of Washington's vulnerable children & adults
Indicator 1: Decrease the percentage of individuals and families living in poverty
Measure d: Percent of Households With Food Insecurity
Description:
Data for this measure are from a supplement to the Current Population Survey and are collected each year in December. Households are classified as 'food insecure' if they report at lease three conditions indicating insecurity such as the food they bought wouldn't last. In order to have enough households for state level analysis, an average over three years of data is calculated. For example, the 2001 value for Washington is the average of the values for 1999, 2000, and 2001.
